Jesus nicknamed one of his disciples Peter, a name that means rock, or in this case, maybe signifies rockiness. Peter was a guy who had a solid exterior of zeal and ambition, an exterior that seemingly covered up some kind of shame or embarrassment. In one terrible moment, when Peter denied Jesus publicly, his shame and embarrassment became front and center. Even still, the Resurrected Jesus appeared to Peter, called him by his most intimate name and reestablished him in love. God sends that same Spirit of Grace into our lives if we are open to it.
