Grace Upon Grace 2

The bible is full of moments that make us go, “Huh?” One of those moments happens in John 5 when Jesus asks a man who has been ill for 38 years, “Do you want to be made well?” If you think about it, it’s an absurd question. And then, if you think about it even more…it may not be so absurd. In fact, Jesus, as God in the flesh, shows us that God has gotten “used to” people with spiritual disabilities saying, “No thanks, I don’t want to be made well.” So, it’s a question God must ask. God asks with the hope that we’ll rediscover our desire and need to be made well by God’s power alone.
