In our last week of Jesus Calling, a series about responding to Jesus Christ’s invitation to follow him, we reflect on this: Following Jesus means that we struggle to believe that God’s peace will prevail. When we walk slowly thought the dramatic, relevant story of Mark 4:35-41, we see that this is the case.
First, a member of our community shares about her experience of storm and about her faith through that experience.
Second, we look at how (un)belief and following Jesus intersect with the disciples’ experience of storm.
In the end, one of our greatest struggles as humans is that we’re overwhelmed by the presence of evil and suffering in our lives and in our world. Following Jesus means that we struggle to believe that God’s peace will prevail over all things. In the story of Mark 4:35-41, Jesus beckons us to trust that he will speak peace into all the evil and suffering we have known…and more.
