Jesus once said, “The Companion, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I told you” (John 14:26, CEB).
Jesus knew many things. He knew we needed to follow him to be forgiven. He knew we needed to belong to him and be close to him to know God’s love. Maybe more than anything, perhaps, Jesus knew we needed to be disciples, because he knew that we needed to be people of Spirit, people dreaming and making sense of dreams with the power of the Holy Spirit.
We were created as a part of God’s dream to have companionship and relationship, to be partners with God in holiness and joy. God became one of us in Jesus to reignite and fulfill that dream. And God fills us with the Holy Spirit as we follow Jesus so that we can do our part as a part of God’s dream. Without Spirit, we build empires without meaning. With Spirit, we build God’s Kingdom with eternal meaning.
