The Gratitude Path 2: In Every Situation

Give thanks in every situation…what a pie-in-the-sky thing to say.

And yet Paul said this is God’s will for us in Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Paul practiced what he preached, too. He practiced.

Paul practiced giving thanks when he was in jail. He practiced it when people betrayed him. He practiced it in all situations. And practicing made him feel it. He felt two things, to be specific:

  1. Jesus is with us as we run the race of discipleship.
  2. Jesus will crown us when we get to the finish line.

This belief empowers us to be grateful in all situations. But first, we have to practice. Then, we’ll believe.
