Even if we are in the practice of gratitude, this world has a way of pulling us back into practicing despair. It has a way of knocking us down and convincing us that things ultimately will stay as they are.
Practicing gratitude is about believing that things will be different. It’s expecting things to be different, especially when we can’t see it. Practicing gratitude is the space where we acknowledge that God has affected change in the past, which empowers us to believe that God will affect change in the future.
This practice frees us to give ourselves to God’s work. It frees us to be trusting, generous people.
