“All go to the same place: all are from the dust; all return to the dust.”
Ecclesiastes 3:20 CEB
Death…it’s an inescapable part of being human. So why do so many of us work so hard to try to escape it? Perhaps it’s because we have very few answers in the face of death; we have questions and more questions.
Facing mortality can make us feel “locked out” from our home with God. It can make us feel like we’re on one side of a threshold with peace on the other side, and the keys aren’t in our hands. It can make us feel like we’ll be separated from peace forever.
And yet Jesus faced mortality head on. He faced it and conquered it saying, “I was dead, but look! Now I’m alive forever and always. I have the keys of Death and the Grave” (Revelation 1:18b CEB)
We may not have answers to mortality, but we do know who holds the keys to mortality and immmortality.
